Green Rider Initiative
BALANCING OUR DIGITAL FOOTPRINT
How we balance our administrative and creative AI use with physical conservation.
Our Commitment to Transparency
We believe in being totally transparent with our riders. To keep our overhead incredibly low—ensuring that more of your registration fee goes straight to the charity—The Tekensee Organization relies on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for much of our administrative and creative backend work.
While AI saves us valuable time and money, we also recognize that large-scale computing requires significant energy and leaves a digital carbon footprint. To actively offset the environmental cost of our digital tools, we have launched the Green Rider Initiative.
Real-World Conservation Actions
Here is how we are intentionally balancing our digital footprint with practical, real-world conservation efforts to keep the Crabby Domino Run clean and green:
Digital Waivers
Instead of printing out hundreds of paper liability waivers that ultimately end up in a dumpster, we have transitioned to a completely paperless registration process. You sign your waiver securely on your phone or digitally at the registration desk, instantly eliminating a massive source of paper and ink waste.
Bring Your Own Thermos (BYOT)
Staying hydrated in the Missouri summer heat is critical, but single-use plastic water bottles create terrible landfill waste. In an attempt to minimize single-use-plastics, we have installed water stations at every official stop on the route. Bring your favorite thermos, tumbler, or canteen, and fill up for free all day long. If you forget, we will have paper cups available, but let's try to keep 'em out of the landfill. We will have water bottles available before the ride to start you off, but please plan on refilling at the stops.
Recycled Scorecards
Your official Crabby Domino Run scorecards take a beating on the road. To ensure our physical footprint remains responsible, we print every scorecard on heavy-duty, cost-effective sustainably sourced cardstock. It gives the cards a rugged feel while giving recycled materials a second life.
Protecting the routes we love to ride is just as important as the cause we are riding for. By pairing efficient digital tools with on-the-ground sustainability, we ensure our resources go exactly where they belong.
